Manchester United will reportedly face fierce competition from PSG for the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian international is one of the most sought-after players in world football and could be on the move at the end of the season.

He has scored an impressive 21 goals in 23 Serie A games this term as Napoli close in on their first league title since 1990.

Osimhen’s fine form alongside Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has fired the Naples outfit 19 points clear on top of Serie A and into the quarter-final of the Champions League.

Several top clubs are on the search for a new striker and Osimhen is on top of many shortlists.

United are expected to bring in a new No. 9 after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club last November, while Chelsea lack an out-and-out striker and could splash even more cash this summer.

Multiple reports have suggested that Osimhen is United’s number-one target and transfer expert Ben Jacobs recently said the Red Devils are “obsessed” with the 24-year-old.

However, in a blow to Erik ten Hag, French champions PSG have made Osimhen their ‘priority’, according to RMC Sport.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos was at Lille when they bought Osimhen from Belgian side RSC Charleroi and is hoping to sign him again.

The report claims that Campos believes a deal will be possible even if Napoli are ‘greedy’ this summer.

The Nigerian striker is yet to make up his mind on where he will ply his trade next term and it is said he is ‘not against’ a move to the French capital.

United and Chelsea have made ‘enquiries’ and are very interested, while PSG ‘went further’ by sending Campos to meet the player’s representatives as he tried to ‘convince’ them that Paris is the place to be.

Although Osimhen ‘is not against’ joining the Ligue 1 side, he refuses to hide his ‘attraction’ to the Premier League.

English clubs have shown a willingness to spend ludicrous amounts of money in recent transfer windows, and their finances could bolster their chances with Napoli expected to be ‘greedy’.

In fairness, they did sign Osimhen for €75million, so it is no surprise to see figures in the region of €100m thrown around.

Clubs know ‘snatching’ the striker ‘will not be easy’ and Napoli’s success has made them confident keeping hold of him ‘will not be difficult’.

In order to avoid spending such a high fee on Osimhen, PSG will apparently offer players in exchange.

Mauro Icardi and Leandro Paredes are two players Campos could offer in a deal, though it is unclear whether or not they will be open to the move and if Napoli would be happy to acquire them.
