PSG made a ‘mistake’ with Liverpool signing – ‘He’s worn out’
Paris Saint-Germain signing Georginio Wijnaldum up to a three-year deal was a “mistake” as “his best is behind him”.
Wijnaldum has struggled for form since his move to the French giants this summer and was heavily criticised for his performance in PSG’s 1-1 draw with Club Brugge in the Champions League this week.

The Dutchman revealed this week that he held talks with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich before opting to move to PSG as a free agent, and also opened up on his frustration over his departure from Anfield – with the Reds reportedly reluctant to offer him the length of contract he wanted.
“You follow your feeling,” he told L’Equipe.
“Several months ago, I had expressed the desire to stay in Liverpool but, without going into details, Liverpool did not give me the feeling of wanting to keep me.
“In these cases, we have to move forward.”
PSG did offer him such a deal, but quotes from a ‘close friend’ in L’Equipe suggest Liverpool were right not to improve their offer, as per Sport Witness.
“Signing him for three years was a mistake. He is 30-years-old but he started very young (at 16 as a professional) and he’s worn out, his best is behind him.”

In Wijnaldum’s absence, Liverpool are level on points at the top of the Premier League and opened their Champions League campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win over AC Milan – a game in which Jurgen Klopp admitted they got a bit “carried away”.
“We started incredibly well, played a super-intense game but football-wise as well really good,” he said.
“We didn’t give them anything until we got punished in the last few minutes before half-time. We got a bit carried away by our own football, we didn’t keep it simple offensively and not organised defensively any more.
“It wasn’t nice but it didn’t feel like we could not come back in the second half,” Klopp added. “We had to change immediately to get back to how we started and then we scored wonderful goals. Both were incredible and won the game and I think it was deserved.”
