Thomas Meunier claims that Chelsea made a bid for his services on transfer deadline day only for Paris Saint-Germain to reject their advances.
Meunier has only started six matches in Ligue 1 this season but has been impressive, notching three goals and an assist.
The Belgium international wasn’t given permission to speak to the London-based club as the French giants didn’t want to be left with Dani Alves as their only available right-back.
“The last day of the transfer period Chelsea made an offer to Paris Saint-Germain, but I know the answer was no,” Meunier told Sky Sports.
“The club didn’t want to sell me because we have two right-backs with Dani Alves and myself, it was difficult to sell one of us.
“I didn’t really think about it [joining Chelsea] because they called me in to tell me, ‘You will not move, so don’t think about Chelsea or any other club. You will stay in Paris and we are counting on you for the season’.”
