Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to a decision

The decision by the Man Utd board to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer “two games to turn it around” is “incredibly poor”, according to former Premier League defender Danny Mills.

Speculation has started to build over Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford in recent weeks following their slide down the Premier League table to sixth place.

The Norwegian has overseen a run of just three wins in United’s last ten matches in all competitions, while the club have lost four of their last six Premier League fixtures.

The real problem with Harry Maguire. And other mails…

It has been widely reported that Solskjaer will be in the dugout for their next match against Watford at Vicarage Road when the players return from the international break.

But former Leeds right-back Mills is baffled as to why the Man Utd board haven’t acted quicker in replacing Solskjaer.

“I’ve said it many, many times I don’t think he’s the right man to take them forward,” Mills told Football Insider. “The board should be having doubts, definitely, they should be.

“I’ve never been one for you’ve got one game to save your job, two games to save your job. You’re either the right man to take them forward in the long-term or you’re not.

“Look at Norwich, the decision was made to sack Daniel Farke whether they beat Brentford or not. They saw that as the right thing to do.

“You can play awfully and win the game, the opposition might have scored two own goals and you get battered. But you stay in the job because you win the game.

“Either you are the right man long-term or not. If you’re not, get rid.

“Then it’s about decisive management and making the right decisions. If you’re telling your manager ‘You’ve got two games to turn it around’, I think that’s incredibly poor.

“That’s not the way you should manage. No other industry in the world would work like that.”

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers and former Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane have emerged as the two most likely candidates to replace Solskjaer after Antonio Conte joined Spurs earlier this month.
