Leon Osman has been quick to praise Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez for his role in Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s men made light work of Aston Villa in the end as they claimed their third consecutive win of the season.

Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool then an own goal from Matty Cash and a strike from Salah wrapped up the three points.

Nunez played his role in Liverpool’s second goal as his strike rebounded off the post and hit Cash before going into the back of the net.

“Darwin Nunez was as good as I’ve seen him,” Osman told BBC Radio 5 Live while reporting on the match.

Liverpool signed Nunez for a fee of £64m last summer, with add-ons which could take the deal to upwards of £85m.

The pundit also praised Liverpool for their quick start as it took Klopp’s side just three minutes to take the lead.

“I think they started really well. All the damage was done in the first 15 minutes. They really showed their quality and Aston Villa were well below the standards I expected of them.

“It is exactly how they want to go into the international break. Alexander-Arnold was at the heart of every move Liverpool mustered.

“Villa would put this down as a blot on what has been a decent start to the season.

“This is what they will want for the majority of games at Anfield. They will want it to be routine and the other team turning up just to get beat. That’s what it felt like today. It was an impressive afternoon from Liverpool.”

Liverpool will be pleased with their start to the new campaign as they have 10 points from a possible 12 so far.

Szoboszlai spoke to the media after the match and claimed that there is still more to come from this Liverpool squad.

“It feels always good to win, even away, but at home against I don’t know how many people I am glad to score my first goal and there are going to be more coming,” the midfielder explained.

“It’s always different, in the first home game we started not so well and against Newcastle we didn’t so the important thing was to come out well now and finish with 11 men. We did quite ok, quick to 2-0 and came out good and scored a goal in the second half too.

“I said it after the second game or the third game that of course we need time. We don’t know each other so well yet but we are going to be even better and better.”
