Pundit calls for Chelsea youngster to get ‘great move’ to Leeds United

Kevin Phillips has suggested that a move to Leeds United would be “great” for Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour amid his lack of game time for Norwich City.
Gilmour joined the Londoners in 2017 from Rangers. He has impressed when given the chance to feature for the Blues.
The 20-year-old made his senior debut in 2019 and he played 22 times for Chelsea up until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Why Scotland fans were left watching England on STV
Gilmour joined Norwich City on loan during the summer. This move has not gone to plan so far as he has rarely featured for the Canaries.
The Scotsman will hope he will play more now that ex-Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has replaced Daniel Farke.
Last week, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel suggested that they will make a decision on Gilmour’s future in January:
“We’ll take the decision in January, when the decision has to be made, not now.
“The things were clear when we decided together that he is looking for more minutes and more game time in another club. The challenge was clear that he needs to fight his way through.
“Right now things are not going as he maybe wishes and we all wish for, but now is not the moment to already give solutions and cancel the whole project.”
Phillips has told Football Insider that Leeds play “the type of football Gilmour is suited to”:
“Gilmour hasn’t got much game time under his belt, and I can’t see why with where Norwich are in the league,” Phillips said.
“There’s no point in him going back to Chelsea because he will hardly play.
“He should go back out on loan to somewhere like Leeds. Bielsa plays good football. They aren’t rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, and he will probably get more game time.
“Leeds play more of the type of football Gilmour is suited to. So it would be a great move for him.
“We’ve seen Bielsa get the best out of some youngsters. There’s no reason why he couldn’t do that with Gilmour.
“His next move has to be to go somewhere where he will play because we don’t want a young player completely disappearing.”
