James Maddison England

Danny Mills thinks Leicester City midfielder James Maddison could cost interested clubs ‘more than £60million’.

Maddison had a brilliant season for the Foxes following a move from Norwich City last summer, scoring seven times and providing seven assists for his team-mates in 38 appearances in all competitions.

The Independent claimed on Tuesday that Maddison is their new priority in the transfer market this summer with United in pole position to land the 22-year-old who may cost £60million.

With the Daily Star backing up those reports and adding that Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City will all rival the Red Devils for his signature.

Christian Eriksen looks likely to leave Spurs this summer after insisting that he wants a new challenge.

Mills thinks Maddison would be a “good replacement” for Eriksen but has warned interested parties that the playmaker could cost more than the reported £60million fee.

“Leicester will have a price for Maddison and I think he’ll be more than £60million, as they know Tottenham will be looking to replace Eriksen,” Mills told Football Insider.

“He would be a good replacement but he is young, unproven and would take a couple of years to get to the consistency levels of Eriksen.

“Tottenham might not have a choice in needing him, as they have their hands tied if Christian Eriksen goes.”
