Simon Jordan has suggested that it would be a “car crash” if Tottenham Hotspur give Ryan Mason the manager’s job on a permanent basis.

Spurs have been without a permanent manager since April. They parted company with Jose Mourinho the week of the Carabao Cup final.

This came after they fell down the table and suffered disappointing exits in the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Can we all calm the f*** down about England, please?

Mason was given the job by Daniel Levy on an interim basis. Spurs went onto put in a disappointing display in the Carabao Cup final as they lost 1-0 to Manchester City.

The inexperienced boss went onto win four of his seven games in charge of Tottenham. His other three games ended in defeat.

Spurs have been searching high and wide for Mourinho’s replacement. Talks Paolo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso have broken down in recent days.

The Londoners are now being linked with former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo. He left the West Midlands outfit at the end of the 2020/21 season after four years in charge.

Jordan has told talkSPORT that Mason would not be the right man for Spurs:

“In footballing managerial terms, he [Mason] is a boy, he is a child.

“He does not have the experience, he does have the management credentials, he does not have the criteria.

“The worst thing in the world, that anybody can do is give him [Mason] a job that he not capable of doing, because he simply does not have the toolkit to do it.

“It will not help him, it will not help Tottenham, it will not help them achieve something, it will not help the players be developed, it would be a car crash.

“If you are trying to be an elite football club, then you try to employ elite managers and you try to build a club from that perspective, not go to someone to learn on your dime in their time.”

Elsewhere, Man City have made an “official proposal” to Tottenham about Harry Kane.

Pep Guardiola’s side have offered “£100m guaranteed” plus players as part of the deal.
