Ramsey out for a month, Wilshere delay

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is set to be missing for a month as Arsene Wenger blamed his hamstring problem on Wales.

Ramsey sustained the injury against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night and Wenger has now confirmed that the Welshman will likely be missing until after the next international break. The Gunners face five matches in that period, including the Champions League return trip to Bayern and the north London derby.

The Arsenal manager believes Ramsey has suffered as a result of playing in Wales’ final Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra, when qualification had already been secured three days previously in Bosnia.

Wenger told Arsenal’s website: “He had a scan today but he’s out. I believe he will be out until after the next international break. With the [last] international break, the fact that he played against Andorra certainly cost Gareth Bale and him as well.”

Despite last week suggesting that Jack Wilshere could be back in November, the midfielder has now been ruled out until after Christmas, with Danny Welbeck and Thomas Rosicky also missing until then.

Wenger added: “For them, you can say around the New Year.”
