Ranieri: Mahrez will improve

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri believes in-form forward Riyad Mahrez will become a ‘very, very complete player’ once he improves his defensive qualities.
Mahrez bagged his fourth goal in three games as the foxes secured a 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend – the Algerian looked lively all game and caused havoc down the left side of the Spurs defence.

His attacking qualities have impressed fans and pundits alike, but Ranieri feels he needs to work on his defensive duties to improve as a player.

“Mahrez is important but all the team is very important. In this moment he is in great condition and he is very good for the team,” the Foxes boss said in his post-match interview.

“His passing is good, his shooting is good and his ideas are good – that is important for all the team.

“But I am an Italian manager and I am interested also in how he defends, and he is getting better.

“He will improve and at the end he could be a very, very complete player.”
