Marcus Rashford celebrates his goal

Man Utd star Marcus Rashford has hit back at Owen Hargreaves after he claimed the attacker was “fuming” at manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his goal celebration against Tottenham.

Rashford scored the third goal in Saturday’s 3-0 win in north London, helping Solskjaer pick up a crucial win.

His strike would be the final nail in the coffin for Nuno Espirito Santo, however, who was sacked as Spurs boss on Monday morning.

Former United midfielder Hargreaves believes Rashford was “fuming” for being left on the bench against the Londoners, which was evident by his goal celebration.

He said: “I think you could see that in his celebration, he [Rashford] was fuming.

“But when two legends of the game are playing ahead of you it’s hard to complain in a sense.

“He’s never going to drop Ronaldo, he needed somebody else in there and Cavani was fabulous last season – he probably deserved to start sooner.”

Hitting back at Hargreaves, the England international responded on Twitter: “Fuming at the manager??! We won the game that celebration was pure relief! It’s been a hard week…”

Meanwhile, Simon Jordan is “staggered” that Antonio Conte is interested in the vacant Spurs job when he could become Man Utd boss once Solskjaer ‘inevitably’ leaves the Red Devils.

He told talkSPORT: “Conte would rather choose Tottenham Hotspur over the potential, inevitable opening at Man Utd sooner rather than later. I’m staggered.

“Conte didn’t want to stay at [Inter] Milan because he wasn’t given assurances about how much money they would spend.

“Conte will drive them insane and produce the same outcome, unless (Fabio) Paratici has a different relationship with Daniel (Levy) than anyone else has had before.

“Tottenham are not Manchester United and don’t have the livery or finances behind them unless there’s a massive sea change.”
