Rashford speaks on Ten Hag

Marcus Rashford has spoken on what he is expecting pre-season to be like at Manchester United under their new manager Erik ten Hag.

The 2021/22 campaign was Rashford’s poorest since establishing himself as a regular for Man Utd.

The forward only started 13 times in the Premier League and he only scored five goals in 32 appearances overall across all competitions.

Rashford has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months but he is understood to be in favour of staying at his boyhood club.

Ten Hag has replaced Ralf Rangnick at Man Utd ahead of the 2022/23 season. The Dutchman joins United after guiding Ajax to three Eredivisie titles.

Rashford is expecting Ten Hag to change Man Utd’s “identity” this summer.

“At the beginning of pre-season, you want to get your fitness levels up,” Rashford told official club media.

“[You want to] get back to what it’s like to play in the Premier League.

“When a team changes its identity and changes the purpose of the football, it’ll be quite obvious to see. I think you’ll be able to see it.

“We all enjoy getting away and spending that time together. Being away from home for so long, it’s [the team is] like your little family.

“It’s going to be a nice feeling. We’ve not been able to travel because of Covid, and it’s something that we’ve missed. It’s always a big part of our pre-season so it’s exciting to be able to go to those places again.”

Elsewhere, according to reports, Erik ten Hag has ‘asked’ for Manchester United to sign Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries this summer.

The 26-year-old shone for Inter Milan last term as he grabbed five goals and seven assists in 45 appearances.

Man Utd have been linked with the attacking full-back of late. It is being reported that Inter Milan want a fee in the region of £26m for him. His contract expires in 2025.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Ten Hag has personally ‘asked’ for Dumfries.

The new manager is said to want Dumfries to be part of ‘his’ Man Utd. The report adds that the club have ‘smelled the deal’, but Chelsea are also showing an interest in him.
