Real Madrid are close to wrapping up a deal to bring Chelsea forward Eden Hazard to Spain after the two clubs agreed a fee, according to reports.

Despite reports on Wednesday that Real Madrid chief executive Jose Angel Sanchez returned from his trip to London ‘without a compromise being reached’ over the fee, there has now been a breakthrough.

The Guardian claims that Hazard is ‘is set to join Real Madrid after the Spanish club and Chelsea agreed a fee’.

The deal is understood to be worth €100m (£88.5m) before add-ons after already spending around £62million this week on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic.

The report adds that ‘the two clubs are now preparing the contracts to be signed’ and that there will be an announcement in ‘the next few days’.

Hazard admitted that his two-goal performance in the Europa League final might have been a perfect “goodbye” after seven years at Chelsea.

The 28-year-old swapped French side Lille for Stamford Bridge in 2012 for £32million before establishing himself as one of the best players the Premier League has ever seen.
