Real Madrid give ‘OK’ to Man Utd as Ten Hag closes in on Arsenal target he’s ‘obsessed’ with
La Liga giants Real Madrid are prepared to let defender David Alaba leave for Man Utd before the end of the transfer window, according to reports.
The Red Devils are looking for a new centre-back this summer with reports Harry Maguire could leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
Mason Mount and Andre Onana have already arrived from Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively, with Erik ten Hag’s next target believed to be Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Once that is done reports have claimed that Man Utd will attempt to buy another midfielder and a centre-back before the end of the transfer window.
Kim Min-jae was reportedly one of their top targets at centre-back but Bayern Munich have now signed the South Korea international on a five-year deal from Napoli.
And Spanish publication Nacional now insist that former Bayern Munich defender Alaba – who can play at centre-back, left-back or even in midfield – could be on his way to Old Trafford.

The report claims that Real Madrid have said ‘OK’ to Man Utd over Alaba with the Austria international likely to ‘end up accepting the offer’ from the Premier League club.
Alaba is currently ‘in talks’ with Man Utd and Nacional add that Ten Hag is ‘obsessed and wants to have him under his command’ at Old Trafford.
And Man Utd are prepared to ‘make a very important investment to get him to leave’ Real Madrid this summer and Los Blancos have ‘already begun to prepare in case’ he leaves.
The claims come after the same publication said that the Red Devils’ rivals Arsenal were preparing an offer last week in an attempt to ‘try to convince Florentino Perez to open the doors’ for the versatile defender.
Alaba does have a desire to play in the Premier League one day with the report insisting that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is ‘confident that he can reach an agreement’.
They may be competing for players in the transfer market but Man Utd boss Ten Hag also came across Arsenal in a pre-season friendly over the weekend with the Red Devils running out 2-0 winners on Saturday night.
Ten Hag was happy with his side’s display, he told reporters: “I think it’s very good. The way we played, I was really pleased, how active we were in and out of possession.
“That is the way we want to play and that is the only period of the year you can really work in training and translate it to games without it having consequences.
“But still, we want to win, and I think the lads showed we played a good game.
“Of course, they are all great games. We have to go and it helps us to progress and especially those opponents, they are good.
“Arsenal is a really good opponent. They played incredibly good last season in the Premier League, so yeah, that’s good to match with them, then you will be better.”
