Real Madrid have quoted Man Utd an extraordinary sum of money for midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports in Spain.

The France international joined Los Blancos in a deal worth a reported £27.9m from Ligue 1 side Rennes last summer.

Camavinga has struggled to nail down a regular place in the starting XI so far this season with many of his appearances coming from the bench.

The 19-year-old has played 34 matches in all competitions for Real this season but 21 of those appearances have come from the substitutes bench.

A number of clubs, including Man Utd, were linked with Camavinga before his move to the Bernabeu and now Spanish publication Nacional claim that the Red Devils are interested in him again.

Erik ten Hag was confirmed last week as the new permanent Man Utd boss with the Dutchman replacing interim manager Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

Ten Hag will have to rebuild Man Utd when he takes charge with numerous issues with the team on and off the pitch.

And Nacional insist that one of Ten Hag’s ‘priorities will be to find a replacement for Paul Pogba’ with the incoming boss suggesting they make a move for Camavinga.

The Frenchman is said to ‘likes the Ajax coach’ who attempted to sign him when he was at Rennes but Real Madrid have quoted Man Utd €700m (£587m) if they want to buy him.

That figure represents his buy-out clause at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez having ‘no intention of sitting down to negotiate for him’.

Instead, Ten Hag could pursue a move for former Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who now finds himself at Barcelona.

There have been rumours that De Jong could be on Ten Hag’s midfielder shortlist at Man Utd with the Barcelona star described as ‘not as untouchable as Camavinga’ is in Madrid.

It is understood that Barcelona ‘will ask for a figure close to’ €70m (£58.7m) ‘and if United considers that signing de Jong deserves that investment, they could get his services’.
