Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is likely to be on the move this summer with Man Utd making an offer to the Frenchman, according to reports.

The France international has been in decent form again for Los Blancos, although Real’s season didn’t go to plan with Zinedine Zidane leaving the Bernabeu after a trophyless campaign.

Varane, who is reportedly a target for Man Utd and Paris Saint-Germain, has a year left on his deal at Real with speculation over his future intensifying in recent months.

Every Premier League club’s most valuable asset

A report late last month said that Real Madrid now ‘intend to sell’ him after bringing in David Alaba, with the Austrian joining the La Liga giants on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.

It has also been suggested that Man Utd officials view Varane as the perfect man to take the Old Trafford club to the next level and challenge Man City for the 2021/22 Premier League title.

And now ABC (via Sport Witness) backs up AS‘s claims that Varane ‘has offers’ from Man Utd and PSG by claiming that he has a ‘proposal’ from the Premier League outfit.

The report adds that Man Utd ‘pays him much more money’ than Real Madrid are offering him and that he ‘will be transferred’ for €70m (£60m) in the summer transfer window if the Spanish side can’t agree fresh terms.

Speaking on his future at the end of last month, Varane suggested that he is “focused on [his] goal” of helping France at the Euros.

Varane said: “This is not the time to talk about my future. I am focused on the selection, on this Euro.

“It is normal and logical to ask the question and for my part, it is normal and logical to focus on the upcoming deadlines.

“We are all human beings. We can think about it. As for my personal case, I am focused on the objectives that we have in the France team, it is not a subject that I will discuss every day in my room at Clairefontaine.

“I am focused on my goal, and now is not the time to discuss it. If I have to talk about it, it will be directly with the people concerned.”

Varane also said that it is “strange” to see Zidane leave Real Madrid, he added: “My first reaction [to Zidane’s departure] is that I feel proud for the last ten years. He took me from Lens to Real Madrid and I have learned a lot alongside him.

“He is a coach that has a human side. He is a source of inspiration, not only for me but for many players who have met him. Seeing him leave is strange for me and for an entire generation of players at Real Madrid.

“It has been a pleasure to work with him, and it would be nice for it to happen again in the future. He is a great coach and a great human being.”
