Redknapp claims long-term Spurs target can be new Modric

Harry Redknapp claims Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish could be the new Luka Modric if he joins Tottenham this summer.

Grealish has had a brilliant season in the Premier League despite Villa languishing in 18th place, scoing nine goals and assisting eight.

Former Spurs boss Redknapp claims Grealish is what Spurs “lack”; the sort of player “that can make them tick”.

Grealish was close to joining the north London club in 2018, and previously told Sky Sports of his “disappointment” at not securing the move after a bid of £25million was rejected.

The playmaker will likely cost significantly more than that now, but Redknapp has urged his former club to go all out for Grealish, no matter the price tag.

“Yeah Grealish for sure, that is what they lack,” Redknapp told talkSPORT, when asked if Spurs should sign Grealish.”We had Luka [Modric] in there, Pochettino had Eriksen, people like that can make them play – people that can make them tick. They need to recruit a couple of players in the summer.”
