Pepe Reina’s father says reports linking the goalkeeper with a return to Liverpool are nothing but “rumours”.

The 33-year-old Napoli keeper, who left Anfield for Bayern Munich in 2014, has this week emerged as a target for Jurgen Klopp with reports in the Corriere dello Sport suggesting Klopp is keen on the player.

The Italian club however are not believed to be interested in selling and now his father, Miguel Reina says his son is happy in Naples.

“We do not talk about the market in the family, we are not aware of the interest of Barcelona or other teams,” he told Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

“Liverpool? There is nothing, just rumours. The great affection that Pepe has for the Napoli is known.”

Reina, who made 285 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, went on loan to Napoli in 2013/14 before joining them permanently in 2015 and made 37 Serie A appearances for the club last term.

Liverpool have already signed goalkeeper Loris Karius in a £4.7million deal from Mainz this summer, with the 22-year-old expected to put pressure on Simon Mignolet for a first-team place.
