A report claims Man Utd have three priorities in the transfer market ahead of deadline day, while one position is definitely not ‘on the agenda’.

With Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City spending big to improve their squads, the Red Devils run the risk of being left behind on the pitch by not acting.

Man Utd have brought in Donny van de Beek from Ajax up until now with the Dutchman not yet making a Premier League start for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.

Dayot Upamecano and Alex Telles are the centre-back and left-back most heavily linked, with those two of the positions thought to need strengthening.

While Jadon Sancho has been their priority winger target all summer with recent reports hinting that it could be ultimately unsuccessful.

And David Ornstein and Laurie Whitwell in The Athletic have the latest Man Utd transfer news with ‘no centre-back replacement on the agenda’ with Chris Smalling heading out the door.

The Red Devils do ‘have interest in Dayot Upamecano going forward’ but not in this transfer window, while signing a right-winger remains the main ‘priority before the window closes’.

Ousmane Dembele and Douglas Costa are ‘being considered’ as alternatives with Sancho remaining their ‘first-choice target’.

The report adds that there are two other possible signings this transfer window as ‘talks continue’ with Porto over a possible deal for left-back Telles, while Man Utd are ‘open to the possibility of signing a striker’.

The report even names Edinson Cavani as a possible target and describes the Uruguayan as ‘one option’ for Solskjaer.
