Report reveals Ancelotti ruled out by Arsenal for two reasons

Carlo Ancelotti is not expected to become the new Arsenal manager as they are concerned he is too old and are concerned about his recent managerial struggles.

The 60-year-old was sacked by Napoli on Tuesday following a terrible run of results which saw his side go nine games without a win in all competitions, although his reign did finish with a 4-0 victory over Genk.

He was immediately installed as one of the favourites to succeed Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium on a permanent basis, but according to ESPN he is not on the list of current potential candidates.

It is thought Arsenal are looking for a younger option to take the club forward, and they also have reservations about Ancelotti’s record at both Napoli and Bayern Munich.

The Gunners board are thought to not be in any rush to make an appointment, as they are desperate to make the right choice rather than to panic and hire the wrong person.

They are also willing to give interim boss Freddie Ljungberg more time to show what he can do after the Swede got his first win on Monday in a 3-1 victory over West Ham.

With Ancelotti now seemingly out of the running, former players Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira are two of the favourites to become the next permanent manager, with ex-Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri also still in contention.
