A report has revealed why Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger turned down loan offers from Premier League sides Spurs and West Ham on deadline day.

The centre-back has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season following the arrival of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Germany international hasn’t featured in any of Chelsea’s opening four Premier League fixtures of the season.

Reports said last week that Tottenham had launched a bid to sign the 27-year-old on loan, while West Ham were also linked with a late bid.

And now Bild (via Sport Witness) bring us the reasons why Rudiger turned down offers from Chelsea’s London rivals Spurs and West Ham.

Following a phone conversation with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, Rudiger felt the Spurs offer was ‘attractive’ but ‘decided against a loan within London’.

However, there was a different reason for rejecting the Hammers with the east London club offering ‘limited sporting incentive’ after David Moyes had registered their interest in Rudiger.

Bild add that the German is ‘now pushing’ for a January move with the European Championship coming up in the summer, despite his ‘favourite option’ being extended minutes at Chelsea.
