Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen rejected a move to Manchester United before the transfer deadline, according to reports.

United were heavily linked with Eriksen before the Premier League deadline on August 8 and there were claims the Dane turned down a move to Old Trafford during the window.

And Spanish news outlet Diario Madridista claims that his ambition is to play for Real Madrid and he apparently snubbed United in the hope that Zinedine Zidane will make a move for him.

Eriksen is in the final year of his contract at Spurs, who ‘baffled’ the club recently when he reportedly rejected the offer of a new contract, and he has informed the club that he is looking for a new challenge.

At the start of the summer, Daniel Levy was said to be looking for £130million to sell Eriksen to a domestic rival, but the Tottenham chairman is also reluctant to allow the 27-year-old to leave the club for nothing next year.

There have been lots of rumours that Real Madrid could make a bid for Eriksen and the Daily Star claimed over the weekend a £60million offer could be coming Tottenham’s way before the Spanish deadline on September 2.
