‘What are you doing?’ – Ferdinand hits out at one Man Utd man

Rio Ferdinand picked out Harry Maguire for criticism during Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Burnley on Wednesday night.

Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez struck to give the Clarets a first win at Old Trafford since 1962 as the injury-hit Red Devils delivered another flat performance.

Ferdinand made his feelings clear at full-time in the BT Sport studio as he aired his concerns about the direction the club is heading.

And he wasn’t happy at half-time either, especially with Man Utd summer signing Maguire, who he felt should have dealt with Burnley’s opening goal.

“Go up and win it,” Ferdinand told BT Sport at the break.

“Show the desire to win the ball. Someone has to go in there and be commanding. Maguire, you’re the captain.

“The first ball isn’t really the problem. It’s the second ball. What are you doing there, Maguire?

“He’s in a great position but what happens? He doesn’t ancipate it. You cant be that far off. He gets in front of him and gets punished.

“Just get against people, rough people up. You’ve got to make it difficult for people. That’s too easy.”
