Rio Ferdinand thinks Liverpool are “going to get” the final Champions League spot in the Premier League after closing the gap on the top four.

Two goals from Diogo Jota and another from Mo Salah saw the Reds beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, meaning they have now won three matches in a row in all competitions.

It is a welcome run of form having only won two in their previous eight matches before their win over Leipzig on March 10.

The three points against the Gunners saw Liverpool move up to sixth in the Premier League table with Jurgen Klopp’s men now only two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who were thrashed at home by West Brom.

Not only have the results been better but Liverpool showed an improved performance too on Saturday as they swept Arsenal aside.

And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand thinks Liverpool will now go on and get that final Champions League spot.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: “I think Liverpool are going to get in there now. The result they got at the weekend, the performance and the confidence that will give that team.

“Fabinho back as well is a huge boost. Liverpool with how they’ve been in the last two seasons they have that know-how, that nous to go and put a run of results together.

“Out of Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool and Spurs I think Liverpool is the one who could go on a six, seven game run. I’ve got a sneaky feeling they will. I hope not if I’m being honest.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool hero Jota is targetting victory in all of their remaining Premier League fixtures to guarantee a top-four finish.

When asked about how important the result against Arsenal was for the Reds’ top-four chances, Jota said: “Very important.

“I said after the last game, to think about higher spots in the table we need to do our job which is to win every single game until the end.

“If we do that I think we have a chance to be there…I think if we do our job we have a high chance to be there because it is very hard to win in the Premier League. Saturday we did our job, let’s go to the next one.”
