Brendan Rodgers persuaded Moussa Dembele to join Celtic by pointing to his role in the development of both Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling.
Rodgers was appointed Celtic manager in the summer, and one of his first actions was to complete the signing of Dembele from Fulham.
The Frenchman was considered a prospect by a number of clubs at the time, but Celtic won the race for his signature, paying £500,000 to sign him.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation since, scoring 27 goals in 41 games, including three strikes in the Champions League, and three hat-tricks throughout the season.
His agent, Mamadi Fofana, has explained how Rodgers persuaded him to move to Scotland.
“What he promised Moussa was that he’d have fun, he’d get his chances to play and he’d be at a top club with everything put in place for him to become a better player, so long as you are willing to work,” he told the Daily Record.
“He said: If you don’t believe me, take my phone, call Luis Suarez and ask him what he thinks about me, call Raheem Sterling. I’ve developed many players and you can be one of those, but it’s up to you.”
