Romano reveals clear ‘favourites’ for £100m Kane after Man Utd target rejects European giants
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich are set to have “direct contact” with Tottenham chief Daniel Levy with the view to signing Harry Kane.
The England international is out of contract in 2024 and it is looking increasingly likely that he will leave Spurs at some point over the next year.
After he scored 30 Premier League goals in 2022/23, he is being targeted by Man Utd, PSG and Bayern Munich ahead of next season.
Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of the attacker, but United are reluctant to become embroiled in a transfer saga with Tottenham so they have switched their attention to Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
Bayern Munich have stepped up their interest in Kane, though. They are in the market for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona last summer.
Transfer expert Romano reiterated on Saturday morning that Bayern Munich “are the favourites” for Kane and “talks will continue early next week”.
“Bayern officials are going to have direct contact, a direct meeting with Daniel Levy to discuss about Harry Kane,” Romano told Caught Offside.

“It’s an important moment, an important day to discuss this deal, so let’s see how the conversation will go. Bayern know that sometimes it takes time to negotiate with Daniel Levy, it’s not easy at all.
“Bayern want to go over the €80m plus add-ons offered two weeks ago, and they will insist again for Harry Kane. PSG are keeping a close eye on the situation in case the deal collapses with Bayern – but let me repeat, Bayern are the favourites.
“Bayern are confident but again, it depends on Tottenham not on Bayern. Talks will continue early next week.
“I can’t predict the future so don’t know if they will agree fee during that meeting, but for sure to meet all together it’s crucial to advance in the negotiations. Bayern are sure that the player is open to joining them, that’s why this depends on Spurs!”
A report from 90min meanwhile claims Bayern officials were due to ‘fly to London on Friday’ for further talks with Levy but this meeting was ‘postponed’ and will be ‘rescheduled’ for next week.
They added: ‘A club-record bid is expected to arrive from Bayern imminently – one that will top the €80m (£68.4m at current conversion) paid to Atletico Madrid for Lucas Hernandez back in 2019.
‘Kane’s representatives are understood to have discussed personal terms with the Bundesliga champions, with a broad agreement over basics reached, but Bayern still face a real battle to convince Levy to sell.’
