Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has publicly denied fresh speculation over his future.

Ronaldo is thought to have told Manchester United that he wishes to leave this summer for a club in the Champions League, but no such offers have been forthcoming.

Chelsea withdrew their interest and Bayern Munich have ruled out the prospect of a move, along with Real Madrid.

Time for Cristiano Ronaldo to dig for humility and consider Manchester United return

A fellow former club of the Portuguese, Sporting Lisbon, have been reported as another possible option.

But Ronaldo himself has rubbished a claim from Sport TV Portugal that he has already met with club to help strike a deal.

Ronaldo, the supposed subject of a lavish bid from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club, responded to a story from the outlet by simply branding it ‘Fake’.

Former teammate Nani hopes the 37-year-old stays at Old Trafford and honours the remainder of a contract that runs until summer 2023.

“He’s an important player and a player who always makes a difference,” said the winger. “I hope hes in a good mood to help the club, so hopefully he’ll stay.”

Nani added that he had not spoken to Ronaldo because “when he’s on vacation he doesn’t answer the phone to anybody!”

He added: “I tried to talk to him, but he said ‘I’m so busy now, we’ll talk soon’.”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said that the pair “had a really good conversation together” and explained the player’s absence from the club’s pre-season tour of Australia as being down to personal reasons.

“We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it,” said the Dutchman. “I’m looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want success together.”

Speaking about transfers, with Lisandro Martinez joining Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen as new Manchester United signings, Ten Hag also said: “Definitely we are searching for players in the midfield, and also in offence we are still looking for players.

“We want to have the right players. We have a really good squad, we’re working on developing our way of play and if the opportunity is there, we will strike.”
