Cristiano Ronaldo was “upset” with the service from his Manchester United team-mates before scoring his late winner against Villarreal, according to Alex Telles.

The Portugal international popped up in the final minute of stoppage time to grab a valuable three points after the Red Devils had to come from a goal down to beat the Spanish side 2-1.

Telles had cancelled out Paco Alcacer’s goal early in the second half before Ronaldo struck late in the Champions League group stage clash.

And Telles has revealed that Ronaldo was getting frustrated with his Man Utd team-mates before he put away his late chance.

Telles told TNT Sports after the match: “So, it was the first time I play with him. Off the pitch, we already have this closer relationship because we speak Portuguese.

“And five minutes before he was a little upset that we didn’t get any balls to him. I said ‘it will arrive, it will arrive, stay concentrated because it will arrive’. And as soon as I went off, Ronaldo doesn’t need much, right?

“We know his quality, we see it on a daily basis. So it only took one ball in the box and he gave us the victory. It’s a dream.”

Meanwhile, Gary Neville and others are unsure about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s style of play at Man Utd and Rio Ferdinand thinks it is a “relevant question”.

Ferdinand said on BT Sport: “It’s been questioned, what is the style of play? And it’s quite a relevant question. At the end of the day, since Ole’s been here, if I was going to pick anything that has become repetitive, it would be the way they score in transition.

“WIn the ball, on that transition they’re so quick the way they pass. This is what you see consistently, people running and moving and making runs.

“From the day he’s come into the club, if you’re going to say what’s been recurring, it’s been that. A lot of the clips it’s been Rashford that’s the trigger for it. That’s been the main thing but also you have to understand they’ve relied a lot on individual brilliance and moments.

“Obviously Bruno’s been integral to that and the main player. I think he’s building something slowly but he’s not jumping out at you as much as you might see with some other teams. But I’ve got no doubt they’re working on the training ground to get that identity.

“[Another] one of the identities is scoring late goals, character, belief. ”
