‘Angry’ Keane destroys Tottenham after Chelsea defeat

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane “could not believe” how poor Tottenham were against Chelsea on Sunday in their 3-0 loss.

Spurs put in a good performance in the first half before Thomas Tuchel’s decision to introduce N’Golo Kante turned the game on its head.

Just four minutes into the second half and Chelsea were ahead via a thumping header from Thiago Silva before doubling their lead through a heavily deflected shot from Kante.

Antonio Rudiger’s late strike wrapped up another hard-earned victory for Tuchel’s well drilled side, who moved top of the Premier League table on goal difference.

And although Keane thought Chelsea were “excellent”, he had some harsh words for Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit.

“Chelsea were excellent, with real quality and desire,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“It was men versus boys – I could not believe how bad Spurs were. You can have an off day and obviously some days you lose to quality, but lack of desire.

“We saw it with the second (goal) and probably third – all the goals… talk about wanting to put your body on the line.”

On Tottenham, Keane added: “I was angry watching Spurs today.

“You are going to be under pressure playing a fantastic team, but you stay in the fight by doing the basics, by running out and closing the ball down.

“You learn that when you are five years of age. Chelsea are a brilliant team – pure quality. But (Harry) Kane’s body language… oh my goodness. Tottenham players were not doing the basics for the second goal. You’ve got to show desire.

“It’s like a boxer being on the ropes – you’ve got to stay in the fight. You’re going to be under pressure.”

Keane didn’t like the attitude of the Tottenham players after conceding the first goal early in the second half.

The former Man Utd midfielder continued: “They (Spurs) are probably feeling a bit sorry for themselves (after conceding). Rubbish! You play for 90 minutes.

“They (Chelsea) brought some more energy (after the break). You’re going to have an off-day, but bring energy. There might be a lack of quality, but you want to see energy.”
