Manchester United are the new favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean was left out of Arsenal’s squad to face Bournemouth.
United surprisingly entered the running to sign Sanchez earlier this week, bidding around £25million for the forward.
Manchester City had previously been expected to complete a move for the forward either this winter or in the summer, but United have stolen a march on the Premier League leaders.
Liverpool have also been linked with Sanchez, but United are now considered favourites to sign him after he was omitted from Arsenal’s squad to face Bournemouth on Sunday.
Numerous reports, including from David Hytner in the Guardian and Sami Mokbel in the Daily Mail, say Sanchez has not travelled with Arsenal to the south coast.
Hytner reports that ‘the latest indication’ is Sanchez would happily choose a move to United over City, with Jose Mourinho’s side offering ‘a more lucrative package’ in terms of finances.
Mokbel offers the following update:
‘On Friday, manager Arsene Wenger had planned to include the attacker in his squad for the trip to Eddie Howe’s side.
‘But Wenger is understood to have changed his mind on after training on Saturday.
‘Sanchez’s omission merely heightens speculation that the South American will leave the Gunners this month.’
