Sancho joins six PL stars on 20-man Golden Boy shortlist

Jadon Sancho joins Manchester United star Mason Greenwood and five other Premier League players on the shortlist for the 2020 Golden Boy award.

Chelsea’s Callum Hudson Odoi, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal are the other English players up for the gong, awarded to the best U21 player of the year.

Premier League newcomers Ferran Torres and Fabio Silva are also on the shortlist.

Sancho is among the favourites to pick up the prize, along with Erling Haaland, Alphonso Davies and Ansu Fati.

Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix won last year, with previous winners including Kylian Mbappe, Raheem Sterling, Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney.

This year’s edition started as a list of 100 nominees before it was whittled down by public vote to the 20 players now still in contention, with a winner to be announced before the end of the year.
