Sancho ‘will never prove himself’ at Man Utd and should be replaced by ‘PR signing’ from Brighton

Former Manchester United player Paul Parker thinks Erik ten Hag should offload Jadon Sancho to make space for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma.

Mitoma has been one of the best attackers in the Premier League this season after establishing himself as a regular starter under Roberto De Zerbi.

The Japanese international has scored six and assisted four in 16 league encounters since the Italian replaced Graham Potter.

While Mitoma has been lighting up English football, Sancho is still finding his feet.

United paid a whopping £72.9million to sign the England winger from Borussia Dortmund in June 2021, but he has failed to live up to his price tag.

Sancho’s time in Germany was absolutely outstanding and the Red Devils chased his signature for over a year.

Those performances in the Bundesliga have failed to transfer over to the Premier League, however.

Many United fans have lost faith in Sancho, though it is important to remember that he is only 23 years young.

Former United defender Parker is one who seems to have lost faith in the former Dortmund youngster.

Speaking to MyBettingSites, Parker thinks Sancho should be the one sacrificed if Ten Hag opts to sign Mitoma from Brighton.

“Mitoma gave Trent-Alexander Arnold a very bad time but to be fair, a lot of people have done that,” Parker said. “I really like him.

“He is very direct and he wants to go on the outside of his opponent, which is a rarity in today’s football. No defender wants that and he is very good at that.

“Mitoma would also be a very good PR signing. To see a Japanese player at Man United would be a huge story.”

Parker continued: “I would love to see him at Man United but then they have to offload some of their wingers and they could start with getting rid of Jadon Sancho.

“I would rather have Mitoma in the squad than him.

“He has proven himself in the Premier League and I doubt that Sancho will ever do that. I think he should go back to Germany and play in his comfort zone where he is best.

“But if he comes to the club Man United needs to figure out what to do with Rashford, who is best at the left wing. But that’s a luxury problem to have two good wingers.”

If Ten Hag is to bring in another winger, Parker thinks he should avoid Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

After firing shots at Trent Alexander-Arnold, Parker then took aim at Antony during his brutal assessment of Dembele.

“No, I would definitely not want to have Ousmane Dembele at Man United,” he explained. “He is always injured and he hasn’t proved himself at a big club.

“He did well at Dortmund but hasn’t done it at Barcelona yet, so he is not a player that I would want.

“I don’t think he is better than the wingers they already have and that says a lot about him because it isn’t the most difficult thing to be better than Jadon Sancho and Antony.

“He is predictable and I have to say no to him at Man United. Wherever he goes, the manager needs to make him into a different animal than what he is now.”
