New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he will not make the final decision on a trio of Chelsea players who seek an exit from the club.
Willian has been strongly linked with Barcelona, while Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard could both join Real Madrid after Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Sarri hopes to keep all three at the club and believes that he can make a difference by talking to the players.
“I like to talk to a person face to face,” said Sarri after Chelsea beat Perth Glory in his opening match as coach. “I don’t like to talk to a person by telephone.
“It depends on the club. For me, it’s a pleasure to have Courtois, Willian, to have Hazard, but it doesn’t depend on me. We have to wait, I am confident.”
Sarri was clearly happy with the performance of new Chelsea signing Jorginho against Perth Glory, though he admitted that his Chelsea side had lost their way.
“Good in the first half, not so much in the second half. Lost a lot between the defenders and the midfielders. We have to improve very quickly,” he said.
“The result is not a mirror of the game but it is more important at this moment for the performance.”
