Bastian Schweinsteiger could be an injury concern for Manchester United after Joachim Low declared the midfielder doubtful for Germany’s final Euro 2016 qualifier. The 31-year-old sustained a thigh injury ahead of the world champions’ 1-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Thursday night which also looks likely to keep him on the sidelines for Monday’s clash with Georgia in Leipzig.

Low said: “Schweinsteiger probably won’t play on Sunday.

“The medical staff said he has to take a break for two or three days.

“He will stay with us and we will see what is possible. But it does not look like he can play.”

Schweinsteiger faces a race to be fit for United’s trip to Everton on October 17, with captain Wayne Rooney also missing England’s qualifying double-header due to injury.
