‘Sevilla players gave Mourinho a round of applause’ – report
Sevilla players reportedly gave Jose Mourinho a round of applause when he entered their dressing-room after their historic win at Old Trafford.
Oddly, they were seemingly applauding his magnanimity in defeat rather than his tactics, which gifted the Spanish side the advantage.
The Manchester United manager spoke to his own players and then sought permission to the address the opposition.
Jose Mourinho went into the Sevilla dressing room after the game last night – he had asked for permission – to congratulate them and wish them best of luck for rest of competition. The gesture was appreciated.

According to the BBC: ‘Once there he congratulated Sevilla on their performance and wished them the best of luck for the remainder of the competition.
‘The Sevilla players were so impressed they responded with a round of applause.’
Mourinho had already addressed his own beaten players and apparently told them ‘he was glad they were sad at losing such a big game because it would bode well for the future’.
