Craig Shakespeare is set to be named as Leicester manager until the end of the season, according to reports on Tuesday.

Claudio Ranieri’s former assistant stepped in when the Italian was sacked, and Shakespeare has since overseen two victories as Leicester collected six points against Liverpool and Hull to arrest their alarming slump.

Shakespeare has been open with his desire to step into the manager’s job, and it is claimed the club’s owners will offer him the chance to prove himself until the end of the season.

The Guardian’s football writer, Stuart James, reports Shakespeare has been given the role, while BBC Leicester says the 53-year-old, who is currently in Dubai with his squad, will get the gig for the remainder of the season.

Asked about his job prospects following Saturday’s win over Hull, Shakespeare said: “I am comfortable. We have a few days away now. I have been kept informed. I am told we will have a chat at the end of next week.
