Luke Shaw’s injury may have caused Manchester United to lose concentration in their defeat to PSV Eindhoven, according to Daley Blind.

United defender Shaw was carried off the field at the Philips Stadion after Hector Moreno’s 15th-minute tackle left the England full-back with a double leg fracture.

Shaw received oxygen on the field and play was stopped for eight minutes while the United physios treated the stricken star.

Despite Memphis Depay giving United the lead in the 41st minute, Moreno levelled in first-half added time before Luciano Narsingh sealed victory for the hosts 12 minutes after the break.

Blind, who moved to left-back to fill in for Shaw, admitted that the sight of their team-mate in such agony may have affected the United players’ concentration.

The Netherlands international told De Telegraaf: “Everyone was shocked. We are a strong team. It should not affect you, but unconsciously it can still be in your head.”

United boss Louis van Gaal said after the game that he expected Shaw to be out for four to six months but he hoped the defender could yet play again this season.
