Alan Shearer has revealed what he has said to Harry Kane as the Tottenham striker is currently considering his future and contract decision.

Kane has been in fine form for Spurs this season as he has scored 17 league goals in 24 appearances, which has only been bettered by Erling Haaland.

His current deal with Tottenham is set to expire in the summer of 2024 and he will now be considering his options for the future.

Both Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been keeping tabs on Kane and would be interested in a move.

While Kane is yet to win a trophy in North London, Shearer has suggested that what he has already achieved is worth much more than that.

“I have the same discussion about Harry Kane now,” Shearer told The Athletic.

“No, his Spurs side haven’t delivered silverware and yes, I’m sure that burns, but what he has done and got is beyond any price, a lasting place in the club’s pantheon.

“Would he change that? I doubt it. Would I? Hell, no. But what would I give to be wheeling away from this goal towards the corner, right arm held skyward with a million volts powering my body, just one more time?

“It makes me sound like an old fart, but I’ve said this to Harry and to Erling Haaland; enjoy it and find some way of clutching that enjoyment, because nothing else in life comes close.

“Once you leave the pitch for the final time, it’s like something switches from technicolour to monochrome. Not that there’s anything wrong with black and white, obviously.”

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood recently offered his opinion on the Kane situation and he took a different approach to Shearer.

Sherwood questioned what else Kane has to prove with Tottenham as he has now beaten Jimmy Greaves’ record at the club.

“He’s down to a year left of his contract at the end of the season and he has a big decision to make,” Sherwood told the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast.

“All of these players in the league are going to be rich when they finish playing, but when you start playing football it’s a team sport so you want to win.

“He’s won three Golden Boots already. He’s been the top scorer at the World Cup and he’s beaten Jimmy Greaves’ record at Tottenham, which is a little bit of a worry for the Tottenham fans because what else does he have to achieve there now?

“He loves the club and he wants to win at the club.”
