Winger Moudou and versatile defender Wiggins played no part in the opening-day win against Bristol City, but Carvalhal hinted the pair could play key roles for the new-look Owls this season.
“I know him (Moudou) very well,” Carvalhal said. “He’s from Senegal. He played very young in Portugal at Academica. He did very well there.
“After that, he had good times at Cluj in Romania where he played in the Champions League. He did well and because of that Marseille bought him.
“He moved there. It was more difficult for him to play at Marseille which is normal because they are a top club in Europe.
“He will be very good for us. He can change a game, he’s very speedy and is experienced. Now he’s a more complete player. I’m very happy to be with Sougou because he will give energy and speed to our team.”
Carvalhal added Wiggins was a player he had targeted since arriving at Hillsborough at the end of June.
“Since we have come to Sheffield, he’s someone we have referenced since the beginning,” he added.
“I’m very happy to be with him now. He’s a player we have followed a lot. He’s a good, experienced Championship player.
“He can be a very good alternative and can play at left-back.”
