Slot is ‘bitter’ while star he sold is in ‘form of his life’; Liverpool boss ‘has to be questioned’ – pundit
Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Arne Slot as “bitter” and feels the Liverpool boss “has to be questioned” for a pair of transfer mistakes, with one star he sold “in the form of his life.”
The Reds started this season in fine form but have since fallen back. After five Premier League wins in as many games to kick off the campaign, Liverpool have lost each of their last three.
It began with a loss to Crystal Palace, then Chelsea and most recently Manchester United – with a Champions League loss to Galatasaray sandwiched in between.
The loss to the Red Devils moves Liverpool’s rivals to within two points of them in the Premier League, and according to Agbonlahor, Slot’s reaction to the game was “bitter.”
Indeed, the Reds manager said: “If you play United, with so many quality players they have – [and] brought in a few new ones this summer – and if they come to us in a low block, playing so many long balls, then the last thing you would want is going 1-0 down.”
Agbonlahor responded: “[Bruno] Fernandes was getting on the ball as well. And what do you expect any of them to do when they go into Anfield? They’re not going to be open and try and play risky balls. So very odd from Slot. He has got that in him Arne Slot. He has got a bit of bitterness when he loses.
“[Criticism of Slot] It’s deserved, I mean four losses in a row. [Luis] Diaz is in the form of his life at Bayern Munich, by the way, he was unbelievable against Dortmund.
“Then you look at that decision to let him go, and then you spend £115million on Wirtz, it’s not working. That’s got to be questioned. And he has to be judged. The money he spent, and it’s not working 100%.”
Liverpool new boy Wirtz has one assist in 11 games for the club after his high-value move, and that was in his very first game, meaning he’s now blanked in 10 in a row.

Diaz, who made way to give space for the signing of the German, now has five goals and four assists in just seven Bundesliga games for his new side, Bayern.
The decision for him to leave and Wirtz to join currently looks like a very poor one, but there is still a lot of hope that the German playmaker will come good and justify his price tag.
