Besiktas want to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius on a permanent transfer, according to the Turkish club’s president Fikret Orman.
There had been strong speculation in the Turkish press that Besiktas were hoping to send Karius back to the Reds early after a couple of high-profile errors.
The German keeper moved to Turkey on loan after making two mistakes that cost Liverpool in their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last May.
Despite all the talk, Besiktas’ president Orman has come out and put it all to bed by insisting that they actually want to extend his stay past the initial two-year loan deal.
“Karius is an excellent keeper, God willing we will sign him on a permanent transfer,” Orman told Besiktas’s club channel BJK TV.
“These stories are complete nonsense. Give Karius some time is all I’m saying. Karius has a lot of work to do but give him time.”
