Pogba and Fernandes are yet to appear in the same team following the former Sporting Lisbon star’s arrival in January.
The Portuguese was an instant success scoring three goals and providing four assists before the coronavirus pandemic brought the league to a halt.
Pogba has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, but with Solskjaer seemingly desperate to reintegrate him into the team, a debate has emerged as to how the two midfield stars can play together.
And the Sun’s report on a practice match has suggested that the pair could be set for some new roles in Solskjaer’s side.
Pogba was seen lining up behind Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, at the point of a midfield diamond.
Fernandes was deployed on the right, with Nemanja Matic on the left and Scott McTominay at the base.
But while Solskjaer appears keen to play both Pogba and Fernandes in the same side, Danny Murphy told talkSPORT the move could be a mistake.
He said: “In the big games against Liverpool, against Barcelona in the Champions League – whatever it may be – they’re going to get found out defensively.
“It’s a delicate balance. It would definitely be exciting to see but my gut feeling is that Pogba will go because it’s going to be very difficult to keep him happy if he’s not playing every week.
“The fans have already turned on him I think.”
