Ander Herrera continues to impress at Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the interim boss has explained the reasons for his regular inclusions.

The Spaniard scored as United produced an impressive display to beat Chelsea 2-0 in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday night.

Herrera has played in 11 out of the 13 matches that Solskjaer has been in charge of this campaign with Jose Mourinho preferring to use him as a squad player rather than a regular starter.

However, that has changed under Solskjaer and the Norwegian was keen to tell reporters why.

“His energy and tenaciousness is vital for us,” Solskjaer said after the win.

“And that’s why he plays, more or less, every single game.

“He has loads of energy, he can cover the right hand side, he runs forward.

“Tonight you can’t just praise one, it’s 11 players, plus the subs, but Ander has done fantastic.”
