Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on bringing Inter Milan midfielder to Old Trafford on loan in January, according to a journalist.

The playmaker joined Inter Milan from Tottenham in January for a £16.9m fee after running down his contract to six months.

He was expecting to make a big impact in Italy under manager Antonio Conte but has been limited to just four Serie A starts this season.

It now looks extremely likely that Eriksen will leave Inter this month after he was placed on the transfer list at the San Siro.

And Ian McGarry of the Transfer Window podcast claims that Man Utd have made a bid to take Eriksen on loan by offering to pay £1.33m (€1.5m) of his £3.55m (€4m) wage packet.

And reacting to McGarry’s news that Man Utd had made an offer, his colleague Duncan Castles said on the Transfer Window podcast (via the Daily Express): “That offer that you were talking about and those discussions with Manchester United is one that would be laughed out of court in a normal window, in normal circumstances.

“‘You want us to give you a player who has been a top performer in the Premier League, and get us to pay a majority of his salary’, it would be a straight blank no.

“But why not chance your arm? Knowing that Inter want to offload him, knowing that he wants to play football and knowing I think that there isn’t really looking like an option for Inter to sell him in this window.

“Therefore, maybe you can get a player of Eriksen’s quality to add to your squad for what would be, if Inter were to accept that offer, very cheap wages and just a little bit of extra insurance for the rest of the season.”

McGarry added: “It would be a loan deal until the end of the season with no option to buy as far as it goes at the moment.

“The deal is far from being done, mostly because Manchester United have not offered to pay a sufficient part of his wages.

“He is on €8m net per year, meaning €4m for the remainder of this season.

“United have offered around €1.5m with Inter paying the rest.

“[Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer is keen on the idea. He is looking for a central midfielder to assist in United’s challenge for the Premier League title.”
