Solskjaer refuses to blame one player for Burnley’s opener

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to blame Andreas Pereira over his mistake that led to Burnley’s opening goal.

The Red Devils’ 100 per cent record under Solskjaer disappeared against Sean Dyche’s men – but United did fight back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw.

Pereira, who replaced Ander Herrera in the starting line-up, lingered on the ball for too long and was tackled by Jack Cork, who provided the ball for Ashley Barnes to score the Claret’s opener on 51 minutes.

On whether he regretted his decision to play Pereira, Solskjaer said: “No. It was the right decision to make. We had a couple of niggles and unfortunately he’s involved in the first goal but that’s the whole team.

“We played our way into trouble there. Instead of starting off with a forward pass we played it back to the keeper so that’s just another thing we have to learn from.”

In his post-match interview with MUTV, Solskjaer elaborated: “It’s a learning process every game you play, and for me as well learning about the players when we went 1-0 down, and then 2-0 down, but we still came back to get a point which was brilliant.

“Andreas will be better off for having this experience so no problem about that.”
