Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reminded Anthony Martial and other members of Manchester United’s squad what is expected of them this season and moving forward.

Martial looked rejuvenated in the first few months of Solskjaer’s reign as United boss – along with a number of other players – but he has now only contributed one goal in his last eight appearances for the club.

Asked whether Martial was a player that needs a reality check, Solskjaer responded: “I’ve spoken to individuals and they know and Anthony is one I’ve spoken to, what we expect from them.

“Anthony’s got a massive talent, got a new contract he knows we believe in him, so just keep working.”

On whether United’s front line, including the likes of Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, need to be delivering more goals consistently, Solskjaer added: “I think anyone that plays for Manchester United has to deliver, to stay in the squad and stay in the team and Anthony is no diff to Rashy or Rom or Alexis or the many forwards we have to choose from.

“And that’s the great thing about it now it’s down to players, ownership they take coming back pre-season but I don’t wanna talk about pre-season now.”
