Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given an update on Manchester United’s plans in a “difficult” transfer window.

United brought in the likes of Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani in a net spend of over £60million in the summer.

And Solskjaer says he is pleased with the way in which those new signings have settled at Old Trafford.

But he admits that United are unlikely to make further additions in January, with fringe players more likely to be leaving the club.

“I think that the signings we made in the summer strengthened the squad really well,” explained Solskjaer. “Good characters, good signings, good players.

“January is always difficult, but if something comes up that you think is a long-term target anyway, that’s another scenario.

“But not many teams would be willing to lose their players in January.

“[It’s] unlikely that something will happen on the in side, but there might be two or three going out.

“They deserve to play more football for their own good and for their own careers.”

Solskjaer has already said that Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo are free to leave the club, while Jesse Lingard, Dan James and Brandon Williams have all been linked with loan moves away.
