Southampton are ‘interested in a permanent deal’ for 20-year-old Chelsea midfielder Tino Anjorin, according to reports.

The Saints are likely to now have more funds at their disposal as their takeover was completed earlier this month.

Willy Caballero is their only signing this month. The ex-Chelsea and Man City goalkeeper initially joined them on a short-term deal but he has penned a contract until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Six massive transfers that came out of absolutely nowhere

Southampton are currently 12th in the Premier League. They have only lost one of their last six games in the league.

Chelsea youngster Armando Broja has been a key player for the Saints this term. He has scored five goals in the Premier League.

The striker has been linked with a permanent move away from Chelsea. The Athletic are reporting that Southampton are ‘interested’ in buying Chelsea youngster Anjorin.

The midfielder is close to returning to fitness after he broke his metatarsal. He has been on loan in Russia with Lokomotiv Moscow this term.

Anjorin has played five times at senior level for Chelsea since 2019. His only appearance in the Premier League came during the 2019/20 campaign.

Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic has admitted that he has found it “tough” playing out of position at Chelsea:

“It’s tough,” he said (quotes via Sky Sports). “I haven’t always been playing in the positions I want to play in. But I think it’s a good quality to be versatile and be able to play in all kinds of positions and have different strengths on the pitch.

“So, yeah, I’ve learned a lot and I think I’m ready to hopefully be in a spot in the next couple of games that I’m more comfortable in.

“Obviously it’s been up and down this year, for sure,” added Pulisic. “Not exactly where I want to be and how I want things to be right now. But, yeah, I’m just going to keep going and, like I said, it doesn’t affect me when I come here so I’m excited to be here.

“When I come to the national team it’s, ‘How are things at Chelsea? What’s this, what’s that?’. And, yeah, things are… it’s tough. It’s tough. It is definitely played a lot on me, and mentally it’s been difficult at times.”
