Tottenham have revealed that Giovani Lo Celso will be sidelined until the end of October.

The Argentina star was sustained a hip injury during the friendly draw with Chile last week and Spurs have confirmed that the severity of the problem is worse than first feared.

Lo Celso initially assured fans that the injury was  “not something to worry about”. But having checked over the on-loan playmaker upon his earlier-than-scheduled return from international duty, Spurs have issued their prognosis.

“The attacking midfielder sustained the injury during his national team’s match against Chile,” a club statement said.

“He will now undergo a period of rehabilitation and is expected to return to training with the first team towards the end of October.”

Lo Celso is yet to start a game for Spurs having been used a substitute in their last three matches.

The 23-year-old is set to miss five Premier League games and three Champions League meetings including the visit of Bayern Munich next month.
