Leipzig chief confirms Spurs interest in Dele Alli replacement

RB Leipzig have confirmed Tottenham are among the clubs interested in captain Marcel Sabitzer.
The midfielder is reportedly Jose Mourinho’s top target in the January transfer window, but the Evening Standard claim the move could hinge on Dele Alli’s future at the club.

Sabitzer caught Spurs’ eye last year as he scored twice to eliminate Mourinho’s side from the Champions League.
The goalscoring midfielder has 18 months left on his current contract and Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche says talks over an extension will not begin until the spring, opening the door to a January suitor.
“We wanted to end the year first, both sides will deal more intensively with the topic in the spring,” he told Bild (via Sport Witness).
Asked specifically about Tottenham’s interest, he added: “He has made a great development. It goes without saying that other clubs also notice this.
“I don’t like singling out anyone individually. But Marcel Sabitzer has really developed well.
“I also deal with him outside of the field. He accepts the role of captain extremely well and has matured even further as an individual.”
